Green Monster Cure

3 Jul

Last night was so fun

But I woke up this morning from a night of drinking and all i wanted was a nice cold refreshing green monster smoothie

into the magic bullet went the usual suspects: blueberries, strawberries, almond milk, almonds, sun warrior, and spinach

=perfect hangover cure 🙂

While I enjoyed my smoothie, Carson got something extra special. Since it is our anniversary tomorrow and we’re having a date night tonight, I decided I would start things off extra special by making him breakfast.

He loves biscuits and gravy so I made the ULTIMATE breakfast: bicuits, gravy, bacon, eggs, iced coffee

baby is now full 🙂 Unfortunately I didn’t get to take a picture though because I have a pet peeve about people letting their food get cold…sorry but needless to say it was epic.

It is also  finally good weather in tally so I plan on laying out as much as possible today

I don’t know about you guys but I am sooo psyched for the fourth! Big plans for tomorrow but you’re just gonna have to wait for the recap! What are you’re plans for the fourth of July?

Trying new things

24 Jun

Yesterday was a day of trying all new things

Instead of my usual green monster + salad + VOO combo, i had something new for EVERY meal including snacks. I didn’t really do this intentionally but sometimes I wonder what I’m missing out on by sticking to my faves and not trying new things. I guess I’m guilty of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

I started my morning with an inspiration from HEAB and April by making a protein cake which I am renaming to

Instant Cinnamon Bun

I made mine a little different (of course). In my mug I mixed together:

1/2 T mesquite

1/2 T cinnamon

1 scoop vanilla sun warrior

1 tsp chia seeds

1/4 cup almond milk (or enough to moisten it to desired consistency)

1/2 tsp baking powder

handful of raisins

before microwaving

After about 1 1/2 minutes in the microwave, I let it cool a little then loosened the cake from the mug and plopped it onto my plate. Then dressed it like the girls by cutting it in half and smearing almond butter on it. It tasted like a freakin’ cinnamon bun!

No crumb left behind!

I couldn’t believe how good and easy this was! Even though I try to avoid cooking food and really hate microwaves, this was a treat that I had to try and will definitly be making again whenever I want to treat myself 🙂

Then for dinner Vegan Mac n’ Cheeze from the lovely Angela. As soon as I saw it on her blog I knew I wanted to make it but as usual I returned back to my stand by salad creations. When I saw that she had made it recently on her blog I knew couldn’t put it off much longer.

Since I didn’t have my green monster this morning I had to put greens somewhere so into the mac n cheeze they went! I also added tomato and sweet potato and instead of couscous I used quinoa. I was starving for this meal so this definitely hit the spot. I love trying new things!!!

Now for dessert I was still VERY full from the sweet potato (I cut a few slices into the mac n cheeze then ended up eating the rest of it too!) so I wanted something light. Even though banana soft serve isn’t new to me, it was all I was craving and Ashley’s just looked too good to not make 😉 Bananas for the win!

banana+ cacao nibs + better n’ butter

Thus concludes my day of glorious eats. Any suggestion for future good eats?

For tomorrow- A  post on My Diet Staples and don’t forget to check out my previous post on my diet rules 🙂

Shenanigans

17 Jun

Holy Hangover Batman!

Woke up at 2 pm feelin like I was back in high school. What a horrible feeling lol. Last night I got talked into going to a bar by my friends just to discover that it was free drinks til 12 which was basically the beginning of the end for me.

I went from this

to this

and this

woops. did i mention the free drinks? yeah, not my fault.

Let’s make things even worse shall we? When I got home I proceeded to binge on anything and everything in my kitchen which if I recall correctly was 1 and 1/2 spelt english muffins and like 2 monster slices of vegan coffee cake dipped in the rest of the chocolate avocado mousse. What resulted from this was not pleasant and let’s just say I have a lot of regrets today. But for some reason I always binge after I drink. It’s my way of “soaking up the alcohol”, yeah right.

Anywho I wasn’t feeling very perky and chipper (in fact my mom thought I was fatally ill until I explained it was just the booze) so I decided to make a hangover over b-fast which consisted of a beautiful fruit salad

mmmm fresh, cold fruity in my tummy

and a carrot, apple, ginger, beet juice to knock some sense back into me

Did my hangover rememdy work? ehh not really but wutevs, this is what i get for being friends with gin and tonic 😦

Now although it is janie poo’s birthday dinner tonight and I’m being forced to go out, I am making a promise to myself and you all right now that i will not be drinking tonight. Eww just the thought is making me nauseous. We are also going to a new sushi/hibachi place by me so I will have picturas for you all about my meal lata.

And now that I’ve fully embaressed myself, what kind of shenanigans do you get into when you’ve had a few too many?

Teriyaki Noodles

30 May

It’s WEDDING SUNDAY!!!!! I don’t know if I’m the only freak of nature that is this obsessed with Wedding Sunday but I pretty much look forward to this day all week.

And tonight is finally the season premiere of not one but TWO shows- Bridezillas and all time fav My Fair Wedding!!! I may or may not be obsessed with David Tutera but i mean honestly what can’t this guy do? He’s incredible!

ahhh how can life get much better :)? The only thing that’s missing right now is my giraffe but he will be visiting soon enough so we can go to the beach and sloth around together. I didn’t think it would be this hard to be apart but I think we are so used to being together that we don’t really know what to do with ourselves when the other isn’t around.

aww how cute!?!

Anyways, I’ve really been wanting to try a kelp noodle dish lately just to mix up my daily salad routine but haven’t been to the store/don’t really know where to look for kelp noodles. So instead I turned to my handy dandy notebook (jk Ani’s Raw Food Essentials) and made her teriyaki noodles for dinner last night.

except i subbed the kelp noodles for carrot “linguine” noodles and added spinach to my sauce for more greeeeeens. I just peeled one carrot with a potato peeler to make my noodles.

I was surprised by how much it felt like i was really eating noodles! I didn’t feel like i was missing out on carbs at all. Only problem was that it didn’t last long enough on my plate :). I will definitely be making more carrot noodle dishes and trying out different sauces…. I’m thinking spaghetti might be next.

And for breakfast, my usual shake

I don’t know about you, but I like something to chew on in my food. I find that it slows me down while I’m eating and allows me to enjoy my shakes longer so I like to add just a little bit of quinoa.

I don’t really measure when i make this so these are all approximates but in case you’re interested….

Chewy Smoothie (any recommendations for a better name?)

1/8 cup uncooked quinoa -> (i usually cook 1/4 cup the night before so i have 2 servings worth on hand)

2 handfuls of spinach

1/3 cup of cucumber

1 scoop sun warrior vanilla protein powder

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 cup almond milk

3/4 cup of frozen blueberries

blend and enjoy!

And don’t forget WEDDING SUNDAY tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
